When you hear the words “the Little Mermaid” your first thought is likely of the iconic red-haired Ariel, her blue finned friend Flounder and that annoying flying sidekick Scuttle.
It’s not uncommon for kids growing up in small towns to have visions of packing their bags, heading to the Big Apple and pursuing their passion on the Broadway stage. It’s much less common for it to actually happen.
Each fall, artists and arts organizations from all over Conway join together for the weeklong ArtsFest — a celebration of all things art. This year will mark the 10th anniversary of the festival, themed “ArtsFest X: Conway Marks the Spot” and will be held from Sept. 23-Oct. 1.
How many of you out there played an instrument in school? As in, spent hours upon hours in band class, rehearsals, marching practice, at football games and concerts?
While the City of Conway might not boast the public transportation or blocks of foodie restaurants found in larger metropolitan areas, we are home to Reynolds Performance Hall, a venue that could hold its own when compared to entertainment scenes all over the country.
If you talk to anyone involved with the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre (AST) for long, you are bound to hear the word “family.” And you don’t have to look too deep into the trenches to find out why.
